Winning coach Tony Martin said it was a good result and a “nice building block” heading into the back end of the competition.

“We played closer to the sort of game we want to play,” he said.

“We stuck to the game plan for the most part, and our completion rate was better, with 72 percent in the first half and a little better in the second.”

TCC jumped out to an early 10-nil lead before Grammar narrowed the gap to four.

Two more tries in the opening stanza to TCC, including one right on the hooter, gave them a comfortable 22-6 lead heading into the sheds.

If a try in the first minute of the second half from star centre Leo Fanuatanu sparked any hopes of a Grammar resurgence, they were soon snuffed out by a relentless TCC.

Their defence was rock-solid, forcing Grammar to cough up too much ball, while their attack was on song leading to three second-half tries.

Centre Doujon Kanak was on target with the boot, landing six of seven conversions.

The Cathedral College v Rockhampton Grammar (2025 NRL Schoolgirls Cup)

The Cathedral College ran rampant in a 42-point demolition of Rockhampton Grammar in Round 6 of the NRL Schoolgirls Cup.

The blue and green machine proved unstoppable, exhibiting all the class that secured them the Confraternity Shield just over a fortnight ago.

There were ominous signs for Grammar as halfback Maddie Johnson crossed for the first of TCC’s eight unanswered tries just 90 seconds into the game.

She and hard-working centre Heidi Silvester would both finish with a double in the lopsided contest.

Poor handling errors exacerbated issues for Grammar as dropped ball thwarted any potential attacking plays.

Their star lock Alice Kallquist worked tirelessly in an attempt to repel TCC’s regular advances and prop Offiliah Chippendale produced some bone-jarring defence but it was all to no avail as TCC continued to pile on the points.

Rachel Oakley’s barnstorming runs were a feature of the victory, so too was Maddie Johnson’s direction in attack.

Second rower Alexis Bukowski and lock Maycee Brown provided some stern defence and Millie Price looked dangerous with her darting runs on the right edge.

The Cathedral College v Rockhampton Grammar (2025 Dolphins Challenge)

Rockhampton Grammar overcame an early deficit to cruise to a commanding victory in the Dolphins Challenge.

The Cathedral College had the better of the opening exchanges and were the first on the board with a converted try midway through the first half.

But Rockhampton Grammar slowly found their rhythm and clicked into gear, showing some promising signs as they worked their way back into the game.

They soon levelled things up and went on to add 14 more unanswered points in their 20-6 victory.

TCC coach Damon Moore said his players came through the Confraternity Carnival unscathed and were all “back on deck and ready to go”.

“The group of girls we have got are super competitive and to be honest, they just want to win and win well every time they step on the field,” he said.

“They’re still on a high, which is understandable when you win such a big carnival.

“It was really important to them to get that success at Confro but they’re also very aware that we’ve got some bigger fish to try down the track.

“We want to make the national final.

“We made the state final last year and had a really good go at that but we definitely want to go one step further. That’s the ultimate goal of this group.”

Moore said TCC would need to match the physicality of Grammar on Tuesday.

“They’re such a tough bunch of girls and they always take it to us physically,” he said.

“We’re aware of that and ready for it.

“We’ll also be focusing on our start so that we’re not chasing points early.

“It’s important that we start really well and flow from there.”

Moore said TCC would need to contain the impact of Grammar’s star lock Alice Kallquist, who was also coming off an impressive Confraternity campaign, earning a place in the carnival’s honorary Queensland team.

TCC’s hooker Josie Wogand will be keen to continue her Confro form, which saw her claim a host of accolades.

Moore said his forwards, led by prop Rachel Oakley and back rower Charlotte McLean, would have a big role to play on Tuesday.

“I liked what our forward pack did in the Confraternity grand final so I’ll be looking to them to really back that up, and see if they can keep setting the bar higher,” he said.
