Unlocking the full skillset of strike weapon Anastasia Leatupue will be crucial for NSW Combined High Schools in its hunt for national glory.

The Roosters Lisa Faiola Cup young gun has become a Swiss Army knife on the football field.

She dominated the ASSRL Under-16 National Championships at centre last season, but has gone on to play halfback, fullback and even a season at lock forward for the Roosters.

Leatupue has starred in the centres for Hills Sports High in their NSW Schoolgirls Cup title defence this season, scoring three tries in two matches.

But coach Patricia Raikadroku admitted the key to getting the best out of her star could have nothing to do with what number is on her back.

“You just need to get the ball in her hands more,” Raikadroku said.

“I would love to move her closer to the ball. We want her in the line where she is a lot more agile and getting those opportunities.

“In Lisa Faiola she played lock forward, we move her to fullback last year to roam and find more space. She gets a bit nervous with all the changes, but she is just so athletic. She enjoys being able to roam.

“She is a very natural footballer, I know she will just play what is in front of her.

“I wish I had her skillset at her age.”

Leatupue has been named in the centres for NSW CHS, and will rekindle her dominant combination with Casula High’s Freedom Crichton-Ropati.
