Queensland Silver Under-16s have stunned NSW Metro Sky with an impressive 2-0 win in their opening encounter at the FA National Youth Championships.

A goalkeeper error allowed the first goal through, with Arden Hogan making no mistake for Queensland.

Their second goal was just as scrappy, with Luca Nakagawa able to force the ball through to the back of the net.

It’s a tough loss for the top NSW team, which is also without new Central Coast Mariners signing Haine Eames after he withdrew ahead of the competition.

NSW Metro Sky put on a masterclass against Queensland Silver to secure the best possible start to their campaign.

APIA Leichhardt duo Christian Lombardo and Max Court starred early on for NSW, with Court one of the game’s standouts.

Court directly assisted in four of NSW’s seven total goals and scored one of his own.

Sydney FC junior Max Nicholls also had a solid day, recording two goals and an assist.
