Two sides have come from the clouds on the final day of pool games to book their finals spots at the National Youth Championships. Watch the REPLAYS from Field 5.

A brilliant header off a corner has helped springboard Victoria White into the quarter-finals of the Under-15s girls National Youth Championships in Victoria.

Sitting in third spot in Group C and staring down the barrel of being bundled out of the race for the title, young gun Siena Gill got airborne above her rivals to send the ball into the back of the net.

The goal in the dying minutes secured a 1-0 win over rivals NSW Country, and helped Victoria climb above them in the final standings on goal difference.

Queensland Maroon was the other team to progress from the group after a strong 3-0 win over Tasmania on Friday ensured they finished the pool stages undefeated.

In other day three action on Field 5, NSW Metro’s defending champion Under-16 side made no mistakes in their final pool clash, dispatching Capital Football 3-0 thanks to a Skye Halmarick hat trick.

The win sends the sky blues straight into Sunday’s semi-finals, earning a day of recovery as the undefeated top side in Pool A.

Fellow Pool A side Queensland Silver managed the great escape in the final match of the night, beating Western Australia 1-0 to secure their spot in Saturday’s qualifying finals.

A goal-hungry Queensland Maroon have one final shot to build momentum heading into the quarter-final stages at the Under-16 Girls National Youth Championships.

The Maroons squeezed past rivals NSW Country on Wednesday, and will look to keep the momentum rolling through to a cracking clash against South Australia.

The clash will headline a big third day of action on Field 5 at the Home of the Matildas which includes six games across the Under-15 and Under-16 tournaments.

While Queensland has its finals spot sewn up already beside Victoria, South Australia need to win against their rivals to keep their own slim finals hopes alive. The South Australian side will play a second game on Friday afternoon on Field 1.

Queensland Maroon’s Under-15 side will also be in action on Field 5 on Friday aiming to complete a perfect sweep of the pool stages against Tasmania.

Tasmania showed its grim determination to hold on for a tough 0-0 draw against Victoria White on Wednesday, and wioll be determined to rain on the parade of their northern rivals.
