The Kookaburras started with a huge 44-point win over the ACT in Wednesday’s opening match before they knocked over the Victoria Bushrangers 58-32 later in the afternoon.
The Bushrangers headed into that clash seeking redemption after coughing up a strong lead to eventually be overrun by the Tasmania Devils.
In one of the more memorable victories of the tournament thus far, the Devils overcame a four-point three-quarter deficit to secure their first win.
The SA Magpies then got back on the winners list with a 41-33 win over the NZ Kea before the SA Sharks took state bragging rights with its win over SA Wombats.
In the Under-16 Boys, two prolific scorers stamped their authority on the tournament with big offensive performances.
Competition top scorer Johnty Dynan knocked down 23 points as Tasmania Devils got past NZ Kea, 77-69.
However, Victoria Bushrangers’ Edward Brown is hot on his heels after recording 20 points and combining with Olli Muir (21) to defeat NSW Kookaburras by 15 points.
While they were challenged throughout by the Kookaburras, the undefeated Bushrangers’ 66-51 win came after breaking away late to record a 21-point final quarter.
In Wednesday’s opening game on court 2, it was the SA Sharks who secured their first victory of the tournament after two losses on day one.
One of the tournament’s most dominating teams then continued its strong start, with the NSW Waratahs securing a massive 87-48 win over SA Wombats.
Noah Fenton (20 points) and Riley Saville (15 points) produced stellar showings in the win.
