Last year’s Basketball Australia Under-20 National Championships MVP Bonnie Deas won’t play a role for Victoria at this year’s tournament – because her stellar play has made her a vital component of the Sydney Flames’ chase for a WNBL finals berth.
It’s a massive blow for the Vics, given Deas lead last year’s tournament in scoring (20.5) and on rebounding (10.67) and was expected to carry a huge load as one of the favourites to win back-to-back MVPs.
The 18-year-old’s absence opens the door for some of the country’s finest young talent to battle it out on the big stage.
Michael Randall takes a look at the talent set to take the 2025 nationals by storm.
