Marist Ryze’s superiority in both the under-16 and under-18 girls is without question after claiming both finals in emphatic fashion to remain unbeaten at the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival in Brisbane.
Ryze’s under-18 girls, having already demolished both the Barbarians and Queensland Fiji during the preliminary rounds, were never pressured against Fiji as they stormed to a 57-0 victory.

In the under-16s, Marist Ryze might have gone into the decider with an umblemished record, but a spirited Queensland Kiwis outfit was determined to make the favourites work hard for their title.
Despite trailing 12-0 at halftime, the Kiwis were far from a spent force against their highly fancied opponents.
The second half was also closely contested, but Marist’s sheer talent and speed out wide told in the end as they went in two more times to run out 22-0 winners.
Despite three second-half tries, the previously unbeaten Queensland Fiji have not been able to overhaul the Au Superstars in a heart-stopping under-18 boys grand final.
Scoreless at halftime, the Fiji outfit discovered the ignition key but still fell short (17-20) as the Au Superstars did everything in their powers to the switch off their fast-finishing rivals.
But full credit must go the Au Superstars, who defied the experts to reach the final by first upsetting the Queensland Royals 24-7 in their semi-final, and then producing a stunning first half (15-0) in the decider.
