Futsal: Top junior performers from Gold Coast International revealed

Australia’s largest futsal tournament is in full swing on the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast International is being played at the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre in Carrara until Saturday, with over 800 teams in action hailing from around Australia, the Pacific, and the United States.

Georgie Dixon

Team: Crusaders Futsal Club Blue (Youth Girls)

The defender is tenacious, worked hard and was good one-on-one.

Isla Morrison

Team: Crusaders Futsal Club Blue (Youth Girls)

The forward proved to be potent and was a top scorer for her team.

Charlee Paterson

Team: West Canberra Lightning (Youth Girls)

A versatile player who played across flanker, target, anchor and even as a goalkeeper, where she only conceded three goals despite being untrained.

Belle Reinstadler

Team: West Canberra Lightning (Youth Girls)

Reinstadler shone despite being new to futsal across flanker and anchor. She’s a former goalkeeper and also had a strong shift there.

Lexi Cooper

Team: Sunshine Coast Wave (15 Girls)

The fixo was strong in defence, reads the game well and was finishing well. Scored a big bag of goals in one game.

Jessica Stafford

Team: Sunshine Coast Wave (15 Girls)

The flanker was solid across whole pitch and reads the game really well. She set up a lot of plays from flank, was calm with the ball at her feet and delivered it well.

Josh Remington

Team: Bushrangers Futsal Club (Youth Boys)

Remington proved himself to be great finisher for Bushrangers.

Alejandro Yanez

Team: Bushrangers Futsal Club (Youth Boys)

The goalkeeper was a brick wall for his side and made scoring tough work for the opposition.

Cruz Rothengatter

Team: Bushrangers Futsal Club (Youth Boys)

Was described by his coach as a “big beast” and used his strength to great effect.

Alex Dane

Team: Sunshine Coast Wave Navy (Youth Boys)

Made a string of brilliant saves late in his clash with River City, had great reflexes, made himself big and was tremendously difficult to score against.

Marley Liau

Team: Sunshine Coast Wave Navy (Youth Boys)

Was sharp with the ball at his feet and was a clinical finisher who scored some cracking goals.

Team: River City Futsal (Youth Boys)

The flanker’s dribbling and pace were his two greatest attributes.

Matthew Joubert

Team: River City Futsal (Youth Boys)

The pivot had great vision and could pull of a range of passes.

Isiah Quinn

Team: River City Futsal (Youth Boys)

The flanker’s shooting was great and he was elusive when taking players on and taking players on.

George Louca

Team: SDB Academy (Youth Boys)

The left flanker had a lethal left foot and scored plenty of goals.

Lucas Andrade

Team: SDB Academy (Youth Boys)

The target was strong physically and had a powerful shot that made for some good finishes.

William Vassilikopoulos

Team: SDB Academy (Youth Boys)

The flanker was smart tactically and managed to get himself in the right places at the right time.

Tiago Armaleo

The fixo was tough, strong and provided great. leadership.

The fixo had a anger of a left foot which he put to good use.

Knows the game well and played with passion and fire.

Was a standout for his side and his passion was on show.
