Mornington trainer Matt Laurie will face the Victorian Racing Tribunal to answer charges involving the presence of anabolic steroids in two horses.
Racing Victoria stewards charged Laurie after finding the anabolic steroid Trendione in horses following race day, and out of competition testing.
Trendione is a banned substance in racehorses at all times.
Stewards charged Laurie - who trained the favourite for the last Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes, Coleman - with presenting Anahita to race with traces of the steroid in his system at Sandown on June 28 last year.
Analysts detected traces of the drug in a post-race urine sample following the mare’s win in a Benchmark 70 contest.
On the day, Anahita was backed from $8.50 to $6.50.
Laurie was also charged after stewards found the substance in Delicious Tycoon during an out of competition test conducted in August.
Both horses have not raced this year.
Laurie was also charged with failing to maintain full records relating to the administration of the treatment.
Laurie will face the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
