“A bridesmaid no more.”
They were the words beamed by Annabel Neasham after promising colt Bosustow delivered on his unbridled ability to land the $3m Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) on Friday night.
“He’s a very well-bred colt with a great bunch of owners and I’m just thrilled for them all,” Neasham, who trains in partnership with Rob Archibald, said.
“He’s been a little bit of a bridesmaid this horse.

“Obviously he was Group 1 placed up here behind Broadsiding (in the J.J Atkins) last year and he was probably a bit unlucky not to win during Flemington (Cup) week as well.
“He’s always been there or thereabouts and we knew he had a big one in him so I’m just delighted to get that here tonight on a very special evening.”
Bosustow, a hulking son of Blue Point owned by Rosemont Stud, went into the Guineas following a sixth-placed finish in the Vo Rogue behind dazzling winner Give Me Space.
And it was that very rival Bosustow overcame to claim the Guineas and the $1.7m prize that goes with it, scoring by a head.
“I was a little bit worried when Josh (Parr) ended up three wide but as it turned out it was exactly the place to be,” Neasham said.
“I galloped him in blinkers the other day and he got a bit fierce so I went halfway tonight and put the winkers on and it paid off.
“He’s got a really nice future.”
For jockey Josh Parr, Bosustow’s victory was his second win in the race in three years, having guided Fashion Legend in 2023.
Ironically, that meeting was also rescheduled from its original date.
“It’s funny how that’s worked out,” Parr said.
“I must say I was a bit grumpy that we had to go home and come back again but that mood has certainly switched around now.
“I went to Brisbane (for the Vo Rogue) specifically to ride him, I was happy to pick up the ride, and happy to stick with him.
“He got quite agitated that day but it was a different story tonight.
“They challenged late but he stuck it out strong. He’s still progressing. I really like him.”
The win capped off a big night for Neasham and Archibald after West Of Africa landed Magic Millions Cup to give Tyler Schiller a winning double.
