OUR stable of experts pinpoint the horses, jockeys and trainers to follow this weekend.

SATURDAY MEETINGS (AEST Times)

HAWKESBURY (9 races, start 11.55am), CAULFIELD (9 races, start 12.10pm),

DOOMBEN (8 races, start 12.03pm), MORPHETTVILLE (8 races, start 12.23pm),

BELMONT (8 races, start 2.23pm).

HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail)

DOOMBEN

THE BANKER: RECKLESS ABANDON (Race 5, No. 5)

Reckless Abandon looks to have similar conditions to those he had last time when backed off the map. Stays at the same weight and drawn perfectly. He can make it four on end.

IN THE FRAME: ALL PLUCK (Race 4, No. 6)

All Pluck beat Nicconi Leggera and Candika (plus MM runner-up Nikitas) in an Eagle Farm jumpout last week. None of them were knocked around, but the strength of the form behind him suggests All Pluck has plenty of talent. However, with race experience on side stablemate Tiyatrolani may loom as the best of the Gollan runners.

THE RISK: CAILLEBOTTE (Race 1, No. 7)

Looked awesome rounding up his rivals from the back last time, but big difference between that class of horse and the ones he’s taking on here, with genuine stakes class Maurus and the talented Lock’s Legend far tricker to gun down than the restricted ones he went past last start.

THE TRAINER: PETER and PAUL SNOWDEN

Peter and Paul Snowden dip their toes in the carnival waters with Tap This (Race 7, No. 14), who was out of the placings last start at Randwick. Prepared to forgive that run on the tricky Randwick surface and assess on the big fresh win at Wyong, where the form around her is excellent.

THE JOCKEY: TEGAN HARRISON

Harrison landed a monster upset at this meeting two years ago when guiding Temple Of Boom home in the Victory Stakes. She has a top book of mounts here. Didntcostalot (Race 6, No. 4) is sure to give the favourite something to chase in the Victory, Tiyatrolani (Race 4, No. 13) will run them along in the 2yo, Dee Nine Elle (Race 3, No. 7) is a good hope in the 3yo, Secret Saga (Race 2, No. 9) looms as a threat to the older horses in the Bribie and Heart Of A Warrior (Race 5, No. 4) will run his usual honest race over the mile.

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser)

MORPHETTVILLE

THE BANKER: HOWARD BE THY NAME (Race 8, No. 2)

Was super winning the Port Adelaide Guineas and should be fitter and better this time around. The 2000m looks ideal, he was the strongest on the line last time out and looks a genuine Derby horse.

IN THE FRAME: RIZIZ (Race 7, No. 1)

Would have been favourite for this race 12 months ago but his past couple of runs haven’t set the world on fire. He draws perfectly, has a handy record on this track and the sting out of the ground is perfect.

THE RISK: RAGESSE (Race 6, No. 2)

Looked good winning last time and should be a genuine improver for the Darren Weir stable but the $1.85 looks a touch to short in a race with some depth.

THE TRAINER: MIKE MORONEY

Has a strong hand with War Legend (No. 6) in the Chairman’s Stakes, Serenade (No. 12) in the Nitschke Stakes, while Space (No. 7) steps out over ground in the opening race on the card.

THE JOCKEY: BRAD RAWILLER

Has a very good book of rides and will play a major role in determining the quaddie. He rides Bascule (Race 5, No. 3), $1.85 favourite Rageese (Race 6, No. 2), Guest Of Honour (Race 7, No. 4) for the Hayes and Dabernig yard, while Howard Be Thy Name (Race 8, No. 2) should go close to winning the last.

DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun)

CAULFIELD

THE BANKER: SHE’S MISS DEVINE (Race 4, No. 4)

Chris Waller mare coming out of a good form race. Stepping up in class, but has drawn well, has Craig Williams on board and is a progressive type.

IN THE FRAME: OREGON’S DAY (Race 5, No. 9)

Making the jump from a second in a Terang maiden to a two-year-old Listed race in town, but it was a massive second. Missed the kick, dropped out and flew late. Trainer Mick Price expects the filly to go well.

THE RISK: DISSOLUTE (Race 5, No. 4)

Has impressive form lines but has drawn the dreaded inside gate and coming up against a field of unknown two-year-olds.

THE TRAINER: DANNY O’BRIEN

O’Brien had a double at Caulfield last Saturday and has a strong hand again on Saturday. Best chances are up early — She’s Got Speed (Race 1, No. 4) and Zahspeed (Race 2, No. 7) in the first two races. Also has an unraced two-year-old filly Wangaala (Race 5, No. 11) making her debut. Watch the betting.

THE JOCKEY: MARK ZAHRA

Expect Zahra to bounce back after a couple of frustrating near misses last week. Has great chances in Weir pair Zandarral (Race 7, No. 5) and Monteux (Race 9, No. 6).

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman)

HAWKESBURY

IN THE FRAME: BERRY DELICIOUS (Race 6, No. 8)

Is a classy mare on her day and what’s more she is very good second-up as she is Saturday in the Godolphin Crown. In fact, many believe she should have won the Tibbie second-up last prep — fair call, and there’s lots of improvement in her from the G2 Sapphire opener.

THE RISK: DUCA VALENTINOIS (Race 2, No. 4)

Is also an import but, in his case, he’s with Team Godolphin and take it as fact, he’s not in the Beaten Up league! That said, he’s a handy horse and he’s in a Bm85 not a G3 on Saturday but he is 3s 0-0-0 second-up. Racing against Hipparchus (Waller import), he can’t afford to be below his best.

THE TRAINER: JOE PRIDE

Welcomes back Kuro (Race 4, No. 1) who goes around in a hot race with a big weight but he is handy and trialled exceedingly well at the venue in recent weeks. Stablemate Ammirata (Race 6, No. 6) will have her share of fans in the Godolphin Crown and why not, she was brilliant first-up and won the Belle of the Turf at the end of the last campaign.

THE JOCKEY: GLYN SCHOFIELD

The veteran hoop has a superb book, probably the best of any rider headed to Hawkesbury this weekend.
