OUR experts give you an early shot at finding that elusive midweek winner.

WEDNESDAY MEETINGS: Doomben (9 races, 12.20pm), Sale (8 races, 12.30pm), Gawler (8 races, 1.08pm), Canterbury (7 races, 1.15pm), Belmont (7 races, 3.04pm).

CANTERBURY

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph)

DINGHU MOUNTAIN

Race 3, No. 4

Chris Waller elected to scratch this horse last Saturday to concentrate on this race and this field looks right up the gelding’s alley. He resumed with a game fourth at Randwick in mid-May and has placed twice in rain-affected going. He can continue to keep the Waller juggernaut rolling.

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph)

DINGHU MOUNTAIN

Race 3, No. 4

Caught the eye first-up making a lot of ground in the run home to finish in the minor end of the purse. Has been placed second-up previously and his pedigree suggests the sting out of the ground will present no problems. Tough nut to crack.

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman)

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION

Race 2, No. 8

Is a first starter by wet-track supremo sire Snitzel. Has trialled exceedingly well, though he isn’t alone in that given the presence of some notably brilliant triallers here; Guard of Honour the main one. That said, barrier 5 is a godsend for Blake Shinn who can position the colt in (hopefully) the best available spot and his class and natural talent can do the rest.

SALE

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)

LANDSLIDE

Race 7, No. 10

Likes this track. Was a strong winner on heavy track at Warrnambool two starts ago before just being run down in the final strides this track and distance last start.

GAWLER

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser)

SPIEGEL GROVE

Race 8, No. 1

Showed plenty in three starts last time in work winning here two starts back before being specked when he made ground behind a tearaway leader in town. Looks a suitable race first-up.
