OUR experts give you an early shot at finding that elusive midweek winner.

WEDNESDAY MEETINGS: Sandown — Hillside (8 races, 1.30pm), Warwick Farm (7 races, 1.55pm), Ipswich (8 races, 1.38pm), Strathalbyn (8 races, 1.29pm).

WARWICK FARM

NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph)

AL NADER

Race 4, No. 1 — Looked a real running type on debut and has improved with the run. Should find the front and over this shorter trip might just have the edge on Once Were Warriors.

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph)

AL NADER

Race 4, No. 1

This gelding debuted for Gai Waterhouse on January 26 and dashed clear in the straight, but stopped near the line to finish a minor placegetter over 1200m at Randwick. Much fitter now, and from gate two should bounce to the lead and take a ton of running down.

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph)

PAINTED FIRETAIL

Race 6, No. 10

Was the victim of circumstances from a horror gate at Canterbury last week and pay to forgive. Back against her own sex here. Her first run back from a spell had ‘‘back me next time’’ written all over it when a narrow second to River Wild at headquarters. Tough nut to crack.

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman)

PANEGYRIA

Race 3, No. 9

Is a Godolphin filly by Exceed And Excel out of Virage De Fortune. Her 3rd dam is Emancipation. Panegyria was beaten a nose in her first trial at Warwick Farm on November 9 and went out. She’s trialled twice again at WF on January 14 and January 25 and won them both in the manner of a Listed/Group horse. Great draw, at home, right distance — you have to be with her, you must.

SANDOWN (HILLSIDE)

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)

FRENCH EMOTION

Race 8, No. 14

Relished getting on to a firm track when impressive first-up winner at Sandown Lakeside. Won by four and a quarter lengths and broke 22 seconds for her last 400m. That was maiden grade but she looks an exciting prospect.

STRATHALBYN

BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser)

ARCHER CITY

Race 3, No. 1

Consistent gelding from the Nick Smart barn who looks primed to break through after solid placings at past couple. Drawn to get a perfect trip from barrier two and should be fighting out the finish.
