HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS
MOONEE VALLEY (Friday night)
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 0x262
AUNTY MO
Race 5, No. 4
Pulled up lame after last start but is ready to win.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40

ROSEHILL
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Tipsters’ form: 2826x
EMERALD CITY
Race 6, No. 7
Looks ready to peak fourth-up and has been steadily improving this prep.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 00371
STRAVIGO
Race 9, No. 13
A lightly-raced gelding who won easily at Randwick before running 3rd behind some smart gallopers at his latest start. Hails from the Team Snowden camp and with the 1.5kg claim for top apprentice Winona Costin, he gets in with just 51.5kg. Looks a great lightweight chance.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 73640
MAGICAL STANCE
Race 6, No. 4
Gives every indication that the 2000m trip will be right up his alley and lot to like about nose send to Piamimi in a mile event at headquarters on Jan 16, when the winner descended every late. Drops three kilograms for this assignment and could have the final say here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 68243
FOXPLAY
Race 4, No. 8
Will have to be good to win a G3 on debut but I think she might be pretty handy. You don’t see Chris Waller debut too many out of their natural grade but take away the G3 and this is ‘just’ an 1100m fillies race at home — it’s the logical and perfect race for her. Her trials have been very, very good.
TAB Fixed Odds: $17
DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 7x204
SELITA
Race 8, No. 3
Flying this campaign with a second and four straight wins from five starts. Drawn wide but mares in winning form are hard to ignore.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 41208
STRAVIGO
Race 9, No. 13
Excellent record over 1100 metres including a strong win over the trip two starts ago, won well at Randwick two starts ago and thrown in at the weights after the claim.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6

FLEMINGTON
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 0x241
ICONIC
Race 7, No. 2
First-up and winner of recent trial. His best would win this.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun). Form: 76821
HEATHERLY
Race 5, No. 1
Penny dropped when she spaced field at the Valley and will be hard to beat if she is allowed to dictate from the front.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60

DOOMBEN
BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 24
ONGOING VENTURE
Race 2, No. 4
Loves a soft track and that is what he should be getting, with rain around in Brisbane the next 24 hours. Favourite Award Season a big query on a surface anything worse than firm.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 88634
ESPIRITU
Race 3, No. 2
This looks a two-horse race between Vienna Royale and Espiritu and the latter looks a good bet at $4.80 providing the track is no worse than a Soft 5. She is the clear class runner in the race but I’m not convinced she goes as well on wet tracks. If the track is dry, she is a tremendous bet. If you’re looking for something at a big price, Easy Running (Race 7, No. 3) and Martial Art (Race 8, No. 8) are over the odds at $12 and $21 respectively.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.80
MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: x1756
RHINESTONE RUBY
Race 8, No. 8
Produced career-best performance when close-up second to Regal Spur a fortnight ago, bursting home to be beaten in a photo-finish. No surprise to see her bounce back into the winner’s list if she can reproduce that effort with 2kg-claiming apprentice Jordan Childs in the saddle.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 82666
MAGIC BOY
Race 7, No. 9
Horse with a lot of upside resuming here and he has produced with two wins and two placings from five first-up outings. Chased home some handy types at the end of his last campaign and look for him to be finishing off strongly.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
