Arden Hogan (Churchie)

Second year player Hogan continued to shape as one of Churchie’s leaders in 2024 with another positive performance

The Year 11 student was dangerous with the ball and without it he was working overtime to create opportunities for his side.

Xavier Veivers-Brown (Churchie)

Another who has had a big campaign for Churchie, Veivers Brown maintained his hot patch of form with another goal on Saturday.

He has scored four now, and if he isn’t scoring he is applying pressure on defenders as Churchie’s strike weapon.

Sani Logoro (Terrace)

Rochedale Rovers Under-18s ace and stand-in captain Sani Logoro sealed the win for his side with a booming free kick.

Before this, he was a calming presence in the midfield who worked to give Terrace control of the match.

Goalkeeper George Plusnin (Terrace)

Despite his team not having one of their best campaigns, emerging Brisbane Roar youth goalkeeper George Plusnin was quietly having a breakout season.

Indeed the Year 11 student was good in 2023, but he has been even better this season.

On Saturday, he was dominant in the box in a commanding display.

Zack Damianakis (Terrace)

One of Gregory Terrace’s most experienced First XI players was close to his best at home last weekend, causing headaches for TGS’ defenders.

On the cusp of oranges the young veteran scored a goal, drawing the scores level at 1-all with some one-on-one finesse.

Josh Zahra (TGS)

The Toowoomba captain spearheaded an effort worthy of victory by Toowoomba.

In a tight tussle where Terrace kicked away in the second half, skipper Zahra was relentless on and off the ball.

Jackson Peter (TGS)

Toowoomba’s left wing Jackson Peter was quality.

A constant danger, Peter posed a threat with every touch of the ball with his direct running and pace.

He was a whiz, who Gregory Terrace head of football Mitch Edwards had big wraps for.

Hudson Slater (Brisbane Grammar)

One of Brisbane Grammar’s youngest players, Slater was good enough to be rewarded for his consistency across the season so far with a goal.

The grade 10 left back didn’t score, but his defensive efforts and counter attacking was what got a much improved Brisbane Grammar outfit up over BBC in a northside derby.

Harry Woodruff (Brisbane Grammar)

Woodruff’s work behind the scenes came to the fore of Brisbane Grammar’s victory at home last weekend.

After finding out last minute he was starting, Woodruff quickly got into his attacking rhythm to land a goal for his team.

“I am delighted he got a goal for all the hard work he had been putting in,” said coach Matt McKay.

Daniel Simjanoski (BBC)

BBC’s centre back had a vengeance about him in round six after the Churchie game the week prior.

He was everywhere, determined to influence the game and swing the momentum in BBC’s favour.

Simjanoski did just that in by far his best defensive showing of the season.

Hugh MacLeod (TSS)

MacLeod was busy from start to finish and added the finishing touches to TSS’ best goal of the season.

Rex Oliver and Matthew Surgeon both had involvements in MacLeod’s header, before Luca Nakagawa-Morrison set up a penalty which MacLeod slotted for his second goal.

Lachlan Wendt (Ipswich Grammar)

What a season the Ipswich Grammar goalkeeper has been having this season.

Lions boy Wendt made a handful of tremendous saves early on to keep IGS level and despite conceding two, he was first class.

Emmet Shaw (Ipswich Grammar)

You could not fault Shaw’s effort against premiership favourites Churchie.

He was a constant threat to the TSS defences and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Sam Stanway (Ipswich Grammar)

Sam Stanway, the spark plug, had his prints all over Ipswich Grammar’s late game resurgence on Saturday.

With 25 minutes to go, Stanway entered the game and instantly made a difference.

He scored a goal to get his side back within striking distance (2-1) and his speed gave his team a fighting chance in the final quarter of play.

Sander Grigg (Brisbane State High School)

His team was beaten by Churchie, but Grigg was absolutely outstanding for his effort on effort play against quality opposition. He deserves the highest of praise for his performance.
