Two of the three longest par threes in US Open history will form just part of the challenge for seven Australians in the field this week, including college star Karl Vilips who has qualified for his first major.
Min Woo Lee was among the horde of players to react upon seeing the 265m par three 11th hole at the Los Angeles Country Club.
“Good luck bro,” he posted on Twitter after being confronted with the daunting downhill hole.
But it’s only slightly longer than the seventh hole, which comes in at 260m, making them second and third on the list of longest par threes in US Open history.
Only the 275m eighth at Oakmont in 2007 was longer than the pair of long short holes confronting the world’s best players this week.

Vilips, 21, plays his college golf at Stanford, the alma mater of Tiger Woods, and earnt his spot through qualifying last week.
“It’s awesome. I’ve tried a couple of times (to qualify),” Vilips said.
“I don’t really know what to expect but I’m really looking forward to the experience.”
He’ll have some significant help on his bag too, with Jason Day’s long-time caddie and former coach Colin Swatton set to work for Vilips this week.
Giving the people what they want.
