The Gold Coast Titans are one step closer to claiming their maiden NRLW premiership following a Stella 30-6 performance against the Canberra Raiders in round nine.
The side will trek to Allianz Stadium for their semi-final against the Sydney Roosters on Sunday September 24 after finishing third on the ladder.
It marks a momentous occasion for the Titans who closed their 2022 NRLW campaign with the wooden spoon in hand.
Their 2023 season has been full of celebration, with skipper Georgia Hale citing hard fought wins from the get-go.
“We haven’t had the prettiest wins but we’ve found a way and dug deep,” Hale said.
“It’s been such an enjoyable season so far and I‘m just really proud of the girls.
“We’ve been on the up from the start.”
A less-than-ideal round five encounter with the Roosters left Titans sporting a 30-8 defeat.
Despite the history, Hale is confident this week will play-out differently.
“We’ve definitely evolved since the last time we came up against the Roosters and have found our way which is really promising,” she said.
The skipper said her side’s performance against Canberra was a sure sign of their improvement.
“We’ve definitely had some lessons and learnings over the season … the performance we put on yesterday was nothing like five weeks ago.
“We’re just excited for the opportunity to go up against Roosters again.”
The Titans step into finals footy with the goal of being the first Gold Coast-based professional sports team to bring home a premiership.
“Gold for gold hasn’t been done before and it’s something we aim to do,” Hale said.
“If we keep looking within our circle … at what is controllable, we can take care of it.”
The side boasts a fully-fit lineup for this week’s clash, making selections a tough gig for coach Karyn Murphy.
“Whatever Murphy puts out for the team, we will completely back and I look forward to seeing that,” Hale said.
“I think we’ve done a great job of nursing our girls and it’s a nice thought that everyone is available for selection this week.”
The game kicks off at 4:15pm, following the Brisbane Broncos v Newcastle Knights game at 2:05pm.
Winners of both will travel to Accor stadium for the grand final on October 1.
