THE Gold Coast Suns are set to hold a forum for members who are demanding answers to the club’s recent turmoil.
Suns CEO Andrew Travis, coach Rodney Eade and high performance manager Justin Cordy will front the fans on Tuesday at Metricon Stadium in a hope of easing the concerns of those who have watched their club sink deeper into trouble as the 2016 season wears on.
The forum comes at the request of Suns foundation member Dan Venter who wrote a passionate email to the Gold Coast earlier this week requesting the chance for members to ask questions about the club’s season so far.
The Gold Coast have lost the past five games after starting the season with three wins and look a shell of their best after being gripped by injury for the third season in a row.
Venter said frustration at the club’s current plight prompted him to reach out to the Gold Coast.
“It’s been a massive roller coaster ride as a Suns supporter since our beginning,” Venter said.
“I expected that but I just want to see consistent improvement each year.
“But copping 10 goal hidings at this stage of our development is just so painful to watch.
“It feels like we have gone backwards.
“I could see my fellow members feeling the same after games at Metricon. There were tears, anger and just general bewilderment.
“Supporters sitting there shaking their heads. I don’t want supporters to jump off the Suns wagon.
“I felt like I had to do something. I wanted the club to recognise our frustrations and do something.”
The forum will come just over a week after the Suns revoked the membership of a man that abused the team and captain Gary Ablett after the club’s loss to Melbourne at Metricon Stadium.
Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said the club welcomed the chance to hold the forum with the club completely committed to turning their current situation around.
“The members are the lifeblood of the club and have gone through some tough times recently and it is a great opportunity to outline our focus and plans for the short and long-term,” Ashcroft said.
“Like all of us, he is hurting and we know that the last few weeks is not where we want to be, but what I know is that there are a lot of people — players, staff and fans, who are fully committed to turning it around.”
