Teacher Phil Rorke has sights set on fourth egg and spoon world record at the Gold Coast Marathon
Phil Rorke is pretty egg-straordinary. He is about to have a crack at his fourth egg and spoon record and you won’t beleive how far he has to run for this one.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Gold Coast Marathon. Followed categories will be added to My News.
A FOURTH world-record involving an egg and spoon is in Phil Rorke’s sights.
But his latest challenge, on July 6, will be the toughest yet.
The teacher will attempt to break the record for the fastest marathon carrying an egg and spoon.
Mr Rorke’s record dream started when he was flipping through the Guinness Book of World Records with his family.
“I saw the record for the mile and I couldn’t beleive it,” he said.
“The next morning I started balancing the egg as a bit of a laugh and thought – ‘I’ve got this,’ he said.
Since then Mr Rorke has smashed the record for the mile (1.6km) with an egg and spoon, the mile with double egg and spoon and posted the first record time for the egg and spoon 5km. Now he will attempt break the record for a marathon race with an egg and spoon at the Gold Coast Marathon.
The requirements for a successful record are no “yolk”.
The spoon must be a syringe measured dessert spoon (10ml) and eggs must be chosen at random.
The record sits at 3hrs and 47 minutes.
Training, even for an experience runner, is brutal.
“I’m running 70-75km a week at the moment,” Mr Rorke said.
He will have two wingmen, tasked with creating a human screen to avoid any accidents from the over 25,000 runners who will take part.
Mr Rorke said he had received outstanding support from the Sandgate Parkrun
Phil Rorke’s record attempt is not just for glory, he is also fundraising for the STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation Program as part of the run.
The program helps improve the strength, quality of life and sense of well-being of men diagnosed with cancer.
Director of the PINC & STEEL programs Lorna Golombick said Mr Rorke’s efforts in raising funds and awareness were “absolutely awesome”.
