Radio veterans and brothers-in-arms, Luke and Ashley Bradnam, ran across the line just short of five hours.
It was the first time Ash had been seen in public since he was suspended from his job at Brisbane’s Nova 106.9 in May after being caught drink-driving for the second time.
His brother, 102.9 Hot Tomato presenter Luke, did all the talking as they crossed arm in arm.
“I’m blaming him and he’s blaming me (for being slow),” Luke said. “I love this marathon – it’s a fantastic race and even better because I got to do it with my brother.”
Former Australian Idol contestant and Kingscliff singer Casey Barnes was feeling worse for wear as he finished a 4hr 29min slog.
Beers and a big feed were surprisingly the last things on his mind. “I’m going to go home, get the Epsom salts out and have a bath,” he said.
“I’m not feeling too good, so I will look forward to that tonight, that’s for sure.”
Bondi Rescue’s Andrew Reid made waves on dry land, managing a sweet 3:06 time.
The lifeguard, who keeps busy monitoring the most crowded beach in Australia, said he’d seen cruisier days.
“It’s definitely easier patrolling the beaches,” the Channel 10 talent said.
Ironwoman Courtney Hancock, former rugby league player Mat Rogers, former cricketer Adam Gilchrist and long-distance runner Steve Moneghetti were also among the marathon madness.
