UNSTOPPABLE Kenyan runner Kenneth Mungara has won the Gold Coast Marathon for the third time.
Mungara, 44, was in a three-way sprint to the finish, crossing the finish line in 2:09:47 while second-placed Kenta Murayama was right on his tail, crossing in 2:09:49. Jo Fukuda was third with 2:09:50. Ruth Chebitok took out the women’s full marathon in a time of 2:24:27. Meanwhile, Jack Rayner has taken out the half marathon in a scintillating speed of 1:03:12 in a huge field of 10,000 runners. IN PICTURES: SATURDAY MARATHON ACTION Sara Hall won the women’s half marathon with a time of 1:09:27. More than 6700 runners continue to pound the pavement in the full marathon. William Chebon Chebor came second in the half marathon for the men, just behind Rayner with a time of 1:03:28 and Edward Goddard came third with 1:04:07. But our favourite part of the day so far has been a finish line proposal. Damien Lee, 41, proposed to Cobie Harradine, 37, as they crossed the half marathon finish line in a time of 2 hours and 44 seconds.
