Gold Coast man Sean O’Hara lashes marathon runners ahead of Sunday event
This 82-year-old has been competing in Gold Coast Marathon events for almost thirty years — but he had some choice words for those giving the full marathon a go.

SEAN O’Hara has been competing in the Gold Coast half marathon for almost three decades, but he won’t be giving the full event a try any time soon.
The 82-year-old from Coombabah started running 27 years ago, and said he knows exactly who he’d be up against if he did.

“There’s only two people who compete in the Gold Coast Marathon,” he joked.
“And that’s horses and fools.”
Sean has previously competed in 11 half marathons and six 5.7km challenges, and has seen the event through multiple name changes and switch ups.

He also last year declared himself “perhaps the worst” Pan Pacific Masters Games athlete.
“It’s about showing some of these people half my age and younger to get off their Playstations and into the fresh air,” he said.
The Gold Coast Marathon takes place this Sunday.
