Burleigh Boardriders have claimed the Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final on home swell.

The new format for the ABB tested athletes on both Saturday and Sunday of the grand final at Burleigh Heads.

But when it mattered most, Gold Coast up and coming star Isla Huppatz and her Burleigh team blew the opposition out of the water.

“I can’t believe we won on our home break, it's the best feeling ever,” Huppatz said

Burleigh won the quarterfinal by 1.42 points over Kawana Boardriders Club to get them into the semi final.

Thomas Woods top scored for Burleigh with 8.83 points and backed it up again top scoring in the semi final with 6.70.

“Yeah I am frothing, I am absolutely cooked but it’s been a crazy weekend,” Woods said.

“So much fun and amazing atmosphere - and I can’t do that run again, there’s just no way.”

Despite finishing third in the semi final, Burleigh were rated highly to claim the title in front of a packed house at Burleigh Heads.

Young Isla Huppatz showcased why she is one of the best up-and-coming surfers on the Gold Coast with a dominating display in the water.

Finishing with 9.27 points, she claimed the most points in the grand final to help her team win by 8.08 points.

Holding the trophy on stage as the team won, Jay Thompson said it felt pretty good to get the win after a sleepless night.

“Mate honestly, I had a pretty rough night with the kids last night,” Thompson said.

“My poor wife, she couldn’t be down here because my grom was spewing up last night.

“I was like, I gotta get over a five and then I got a six.

“But the highlight of my life is being out here, it’s been amazing.”

Teammate Maddy Job said it was sick to see everyone cheering them on as they ran up Burleigh Hill.

Burleigh will also earned themselves $20,000 for the win on Sunday afternoon.
