Round one is complete for Gold Coast Cricket with some outstanding performances to kick off the beginning of the year.
Five players across the seniors competition scored 100 or more runs, while two batsmen fell short by three and four runs respectively.

Round 1 highlights
Nick Stone – 172* (101)
Bonogin Valley v Queens 4th Grade Colts
Captain Nick Stone has started off the year in arguably the best way possible, smashing 172 from 101 balls in the opening game of the season.
Opening the batting, Bonogin Valley lost an early wicket to sit at 1/10 before Stone and Nathan O’Brien (100 from 69 balls) put on a 233 run partnership for the second wicket.
Stone hit 14x6’s and 12x4’s in his innings, guiding his side to 6/339 and winning by 137 runs.
Ben Fleming – 128* (77)
Alberton Ormeau v Bonogin Valley 3rd Grade
Coming in at 1/14 chasing 262 for victory, Alberton Ormeau’s captain Ben Fleming took it to the Bonogin Valley bowlers.
Losing a wicket at 31, Fleming put together a partnership with Corey Taylor of 193 runs to help guide the side to eventually a seven wicket victory.
Dylan Petersen – 117* (105)
Broadbeach Robina v Alberton Ormeau Div 2 Community
Opening the batting having a number of wickets fall around him, Dylan Petersen carried his bat for the full 34 overs, helping his side to 4/207.
Petersen smashed four 6’s and 12x4’s in his 105 ball innings to be the third highest run scorer in the opening round of the season.
Beau Jorgensen – 5/17 from 7 overs
Helensvale Green v Queens 3rd Grade
Defending a total of 194, Helensvale started well with the ball, having Queens 1/45 before Beau Jorgensen claimed his first wicket.
Jorgensen then went on to take four of the next five wickets, sending Queens to 7/53 and into the tail.
Jorgensen finished with the best figures for the weekend across all senior grades.
Chris McDonald – 5/22 from 6 overs
Palm Beach v Surfers Paradise 4th Grade
Claiming a wicket with his very first ball, Chris McDonald was in for a big day.
Being thrown the ball to bowl the fifth over, with Surfers Paradise sitting at 1/47, McDonald made instant impact taking two wicket in his first over.
McDonald claimed four wickets in his first three overs, before returning to bowl the 25th over where he picked up his fifth wicket on the last ball of his fifth over.
Open junior divisions are currently midway through the open clash of round one, starting with two day format as well as over 40s and 50s begin Sunday October 15 and their stats have not been included into the table above.
