Young driver emerges as one of motorsports biggest racing prospects ahead of Gold Coast 600

Bayley Hall had never written his signature on anything but a formal document before Bathurst but the learner driver is quickly becoming adept at it as he comes to terms with his growing profile that has him on the radar of Supercars newest team.

BAYLEY Hall had never written his signature on anything but a formal document before Bathurst but the learner driver is quickly becoming adept at it as he comes to terms with his growing profile that has him on the radar of Supercars newest team.

The Year 10 Coomera Anglican College student has emerged as one of the most exciting young driving prospects in motorsport in 2019, earning multiple promotions after thriving in the Queensland Touring Car Championship, GT-1 Australia and SuperUtes categories.

“Racing at these levels is pretty cool,” Hall said as he prepares to race in the SuperUtes category as part of the Gold Coast 600 weekend.

“Everybody is at the top of their game and you have to be that extra little bit better.

“I’m starting to learn and improve myself and the cars I’m starting to drive are weapons so I’m loving it.”

The 16-year-old has only completed 15 hours behind the wheel as he works towards getting his license next year but he already has his eye on greater things on the track after exceeding speeds of 257km/hour in races.

“The ultimate goal is to start endurance races in Europe and reach a professional level of racing, even in supercars as well,” Hall said.

“The way opportunities roll in is the best way to go about it. You have to always make the most of it and keep progressing and improving which is what I am focusing on.”

Hall’s love of racing comes from his parents, while father Roy’s interest stemmed from his own mother Margaret Hall who died of ovarian cancer at the age of 59.

It’s why Hall has a sticker raising awareness for the cancer on each of his race cars.

Hall said he would put his main focus into the GT-1 Australia series in 2019, a category owned by Rod Salmon who has been linked to the new Sydney-based Supercars team launched earlier this month.

Hall said juggling his budding racing career with school had been difficult at times but the talented driver is also a high achiever away from the track. He won the principal’s award for academic achievements in Year 7, 8 and 9.
