SUPERCARS have confirmed the ever-popular Stadium Super Trucks series will not be part of the Gold Coast 600 event line-up next month.

SST’s entertainment factor proved a hit with fans when it was part of the 2015 and 2016 Supercars events on the Gold Coast.

The series did not visit Surfers Paradise last year, somewhat due to a financial disagreement, but was set to feature again in 2018.

However, those plans have been dashed after the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport suspended the category from racing Down Under due to safety reasons.

As a result, Supercars will now be supported on-track by SuperUtes, Porsche Carrera Cup and the Aussie Racing Cars Series.

Gold Coaster Matt Mingay was badly injured two years ago in a SST race in Detroit.

Fellow Coast resident Paul Morris is the series’ defending champion while former The Southport School student Matt Brabham is leading the standings this year, having missed out on the 2017 title to Morris by one point.
