The 36-year-old is a two-time Bathurst 1000 champion and showed there are no signs of him slowing down by topping the timesheets in the opening practice session at the Mountain on Thursday.

Now steering a 23Red Racing Falcon, he is teaming up this weekend with his brother Alex Davison for the third time as they try to better their previous best result together of fourth place in 2014.

Davison won the Great Race in 2009 with Garth Tander at the Holden Racing Team before adding another Peter Brock Trophy to his silverware haul in 2016 alongside Tekno Autosports boss Jonathon Webb.
