Staying abreast of the law: Flashing okay just don’t cause a frenzy

WHIP ’em out — but don’t whip people into a frenzy with them.

That is the message from police for women who want to flash their breasts from Surfers Paradise balconies during this weekend’s GC600.

Strippers from across Australia have descended on the city for their slice of the V8 Supercars action — with one booking agent claiming topless waitresses are the “unofficial mascots” of the racy event.

But they’ve been warned to stay abreast of Queensland law, and not go overboard when it comes to displaying their wares from trackside high-rises.

District Officer acting Chief Superintendent Des Lacy said police had been brought in from across the southeast for the event, and had bigger things to grapple with than bare boobs.

“It can sometimes cause crowd massing in an area, which can lead to anti-social behaviour, in which case we will be taking action,” he said.

“But unless the behaviour is associated with public nuisance, it’s not an offence.”

Public nuisance carries a fine of up to $500 if convicted.

It's certainly not bust time for strippers on the Gold Coast with topless waitresses such as Scarlett Morgan expecting to make a packet from the GC600.

Leah Cahill, of Femme Fatale Models, manages the bookings of more than 100 women and said the GC600 generated a roaring trade.

“It is just amazing. Workload skyrockets and the girls are paid double the money to work in that particular area,” she said.

“It’s really because of the clientele. It’s the time of year when people really want to let loose — everyone’s enjoying themselves and people are digging into their pockets and making the most of the weekend.

“You really don’t have this kind of thing through the year — just buck’s parties.”

Topless waitressing is the most requested service for V8-weekend patrons, though the X-rated toy show is also popular, Ms Cahill said.

Topless waitress Scarlett Morgan, who performs as Scarlett Goddess, is fully booked and expects to make about $2000. She said women who also did dance shows could make that much in a day.

“I knew a girl who was a dancer when we had the Indy cars here and she made $20,000 in three days,” she said. “I will be topless waitressing all weekend for a crowd of both ladies and gents — I love my job.”
