CELEBRITY spotting was the other sport V8 race fans had their eye on at the Gold Coast 600 — with dozens of well-known names and faces invited along to spice up the event this year.
Yesterday was the big day in the VIP suites, with footy star Sam Burgess and entertainer Redfoo drawing much of the attention.
Burgess, a self-confessed car junkie, who has been spotted driving a number of flash vehicles around Sydney this year, said he was a motorsport convert after attending the race.

“It is the first time I have ever been to something like this,” said Burgess, who leaves for the UK tomorrow to play Rugby union for Bath.
“It has been great to experience it and get down to the pits and on the track.
“I love cars. I have never really been into motorsport ... but this has left an impression.”
Burgess’ list of loan vehicles included an Aston Martin Vanquish this year, but he is now considering putting a V8 Supercar on his wish list.
Redfoo, the X Factor Australia judge, almost left the Gold Coast with a shiny new V8 in his shopping bag.
“I got a bunch of motorcycles but I haven’t yet got that car,” the LMFAO frontman said yesterday as he arrived at the Gold Coast 600 by boat. “I have a little car but I need something. I think I’m going to be inspired today.”
Accompanied by a mystery blonde (who declined to give her name) and his La Freak Crew, the New Thang singer brought his party town gumbo to the Coast “to see some fast car racing — yeah baby”.
While Redfoo, 39, was believed to be “single and ready to mingle” since splitting from tennis player Victoria Azarenka earlier this year, his V8s date is the same “mystery” woman he has been photographed out and about with recently in Sydney.
“This is my last day here for like a month or so, so I’m hopefully digging in and having a few drinks myself,” Redfoo said.
“This is my second race that I’ve ever been to, so I’m excited. The Gold Coast is one of the best party destinations in the whole world.”
The youngest son of Motown Record Company founder Berry Gordy, Redfoo lured 1500 partygoers to Club 600 after the race when he made a guest appearance during “my home girl” Some Blonde DJ’s set.
The singer sent fans wild as he sprayed them with “champagne showers” before stage diving into the audience to crowd surf.

Sporting a leopard-print trucker’s hat and matching Vans slip ons, a bright blue singlet and shiny black shorts from his La Freak clothing label, Redfoo toured the pits and watched his X Factor charge, Reigan Derry, sing the national anthem before he caught the race from the V8 Supercars VIP Suite.
Also in the footy corner was Gorden Tallis, who happily posed for dozens of selfies during the event. Tallis turned up two days in a row and was one of the few who had no trouble backing up.
“I use to tackle 120kg blokes for a living,” he said. “I don’t break a sweat doing this.”
Not everyone was as loud and proud as Tallis.
Others, including Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte, son of the King of Sweden, chose to stay hidden away from prying eyes in the corporate area.
Country singer Troy Cassar-Daley and his wife 4KQ DJ Laurel Edwards clocked up their third Gold Coast 600 in a row.
“We just love it,” Edwards said.
Sydney Fashion Blogger, aka Antoninette Marie, stood out among the people wearing shorts and thongs, sporting heels and a Michael Lo Sordo outfit.
