The Top 30 A-League stars ranked: Jamie Maclaren, Tolgay Arslan, Bruno Fornaroli battle for top spot

Who is the best player in the A-League? Our panel of experts have come together to rank the top 30 players in the competition right down to the undisputed top dog.

Long range goal stuns football world

Australia’s domestic football league has featured global superstars like Alessandro Del Piero and Tim Cahill but the rise of budding young talents like Adelaide’s Nestory Irankunda has sparked interest in the A-League as a breeding ground for future champions.

With Irankunda the latest talent to sign a deal to head overseas, a record transfer fee to join Bayern Munich, the question was asked given he is attracting such huge international interest is he the best player in the A-League right now?

News Corp’s football writers Marco Monteverde, Erin Smith and Tim Michell joined forces with Socceroos legend Robbie Slater and used last week’s international break to thrash out the A-League top 30 performers list.

Taking into account games played so far this year, and probably a little bit of reputation from previous seasons, each voted for their own top 30 players.

With the A-League set to resume this weekend, one Socceroo is set to come back to Australia with an extra spring in his step as the majority No.1.

However, with so many variations in the top 20 votes the final list of players may come as a shock.
