After sitting out Round 1 with a bye, TSS announced their 2020 GPS arrival with a 4-0 victory over Nudgee who in turn defeated Anglican Church Grammar School in Round 1.
But despite history suggesting TSS has their measure, including a 2-1 victory last year, TSS director of football Joe Dolan is refusing to take ‘Churchie’ lightly.
“Full credit to Churchie for taking out the title last year,” Dolan said.
“It’s a really simple approach for us, every game is like a final and we can’t afford o slack off.
“At the end of the day, we analysed our match against Nudgee and looked at what we did well so we’ll take that going forward.”
Dolan indicated TSS would attempt to curb the influence of talented Churchie attacker Cyrus Dehmie on their quest for victory.
Dolan also believes TSS are showing early signs of building strong momentum.
“The boys didn’t go crazy, even when we scored our third and fourth goal so those are good signs,” he said.
“It’s a short season so the mentality is simply one down, seven schools yet to beat.
“Momentum is really important and it doesn’t get easier each year.”
