Matildas superstar Sam Kerr scored an impressive hat-trick to help Chelsea crush Paris FC 4-1 in the Champions League.
It’s the eighth time the striker has scored a hat-trick for Chelsea.
Kerr, who confirmed her engagement to partner Kristie Mewis this week, found the net in the 30th, 48th and 55th minutes of the match to claim their first Champions League victory of the season.
Chelsea were spurred on by the 5000 strong home crowd at Stamford Bridge with Kerr doing what she does best – rising to the occasion and finding the goals needed to lock up the game.
While all three of Kerr’s goals were impressive her third was particularly clever.
She took just two touches after receiving the ball to hoist it into the air, over the Paris FC keeper and just under the crossbar.
The win will be a big boost to the English outfit after their controversial draw with Real Madrid in last week’s opening Champions League match-up.
Chelsea were twice dealt questionable decisions by the referees – one an off-side call, the other a penalty to the opposition – which had massive impacts on the match.
Matildas defender Aivi Luik’s Swedish club side Hacken leapt to the top Group D after a come-from-behind win against Hayley Raso’s Real Madrid. Chelsea now sit second in the group ahead of a clash with Hacken on December 15 at 7am (AEDT).
