‘We’ve got a leak’: Postecoglou witch hunt after mole leaks private information

Ange Postecoglou has been betrayed with revelations the Aussie manager is hunting a mole in the ranks inside his team’s dressing room.

Ange: "No doubt we've got a leak"

Problems keep mounting for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham as the Australian manager said he has “no doubt” there is a leak in the dressing room.

Spurs’ line-up for the 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final at home against Eintracht Frankfurt was revealed earlier than expected, and Postecoglou was furious.

Reports before kick off stated that Wilson Odobert had sustained another hamstring injury, and the forward was an unused substitute for the match.

Postecoglou insisted that the 20-year-old, who scored twice in the second leg of the Round of 16 win against Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar, was “okay” however, and had trained after coming off the bench against Southampton last weekend.

The Australian said it was the latest behind the scenes problem having a detrimental impact on performance on the pitch, as Tottenham languish in 14th on the Premier League and cling to the hope of continental success.

But Postecoglou also said he was confident he and others in the Spurs hierarchy have figured out who it may be, and they would likely be shaking in their boots at the prospect off a confrontation with the manager.

“There is no doubt we’ve got a leak inside the club,” Postecoglou said. “Someone continues to leak out information and they have all year.

Ange's Spurs squander chances in 1st leg

“I don’t know why as it just makes our job even more difficult. It doesn’t help us as you don’t want to give the opposition a helping hand.

“We’ve narrowed it down. I’ve got a fair idea where it’s coming from. We will deal with it.

“It certainly doesn’t help us on game days. It’s sometimes half-truths and sometimes more. You’d like to think that everyone within our camp is working with us rather than against us.”

Postecoglou is seemingly on borrowed time as Tottenham manager with the pursuit of European silverware the only thing keeping him in the job at present due to their lowly league position in a disastrous, injury-riddled campaign.

And having to deal with a dressing room leak only making turning the ship around harder for the former Celtic boss.

Another decisive match comes on Friday morning Australian time as Tottenham travel to Germany for the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final, but first Spurs have the chance to pick up a second straight league victory.

After defeating cellar dwellers Southampton 3-1 last weekend, Tottenham travel to 17th placed Wolves, crucially with no new injury issues.

But Postecoglou could put out a fairly young side to keep his experienced players fresh for the trip to Frankfurt.

“A couple of boys cramping up near the end, a couple of small knocks, a couple who will be tired, but heath wise fine,” he said.

“It was a big physical toll last night. It was always going to be a challenging game for us. It’s a big game [Sunday] and a big performance is needed so having some fresh legs will help that. Fair to make some changes.”
