Matildas legend Lisa De Vanna set to play for Perth Glory in new women’s A-League season

Outspoken Matildas great Lisa De Vanna isn’t ready to walk away from football, returning home to play for Perth Glory.

Lisa De Vanna is set to continue her decorated and controversial football career, with the outspoken Matildas great returning to Perth Glory.

De Vanna, who last month alleged she suffered sexual harassment, abuse and bullying during her 150-game Matildas career, has been training with her hometown club, with the Glory set to register her women’s A-League contract on Thursday.

De Vanna’s allegations led to Football Australia organising an independent Sport Integrity Australia investigation into alleged misconduct in women’s football.

The 37-year-old striker announced in September she was “walking away from football”, with the final straw being left out of the Matildas’ Tokyo Olympic Games squad.

“I just think I’m at the point where I can’t recover from what I’ve been through,” she told ESPN.

“I’m just struggling to deal with it. I can’t look at a football right now. I can’t even walk my dog on a field.”

However, a source close to the Glory has told News Corp Australia she has had a change of heart.

It will be Western Australian De Vanna’s third stint at the Glory. Last season she was part of Melbourne Victory’s championship-winning squad.

“All she wants to do is win,” the source said.

“She’s not interested in the politics.”

The women’s A-League season kicks off on December 3, with the Glory’s opening game the following day against one of De Vanna’s former clubs, Brisbane Roar.
