Western United has retained the services of rising star Noah Botic, who has signed a new two-year contract with the A-League champions.

Once described as Australia’s next Mark Viduka, Botic joined United in 2021 after spending two years with German club Hoffenheim on a scholarship deal.

After making just three appearances last season, the 21-year-old striker has scored six goals in 14 matches this season, including four in United’s past four games.

“I’m very pleased to commit to Western United for the next two seasons,” Botic said.

“I’m very excited to continue to build and grow stronger relationships with the boys.

“I’m feeling very comfortable here at Western United, as it feels like a second family to me.

“I believe it’s the best place to continue my development, as we’ve got some great coaches both on and off the pitch that have helped me improve from the day that I arrived at the club.”

Western United general manager of football Mal Impiombato said the club was “thrilled to extend the contract of one of the A-League’s emerging young talents”.

“Noah has shown his talent and work ethic ever since joining Western United and we are excited by his potential,” Impiombato said.

“Equally, we are extremely confident that we can provide the best environment for Noah to hone his craft.

“We have already seen how the culture, professionalism and talent within our squad has benefited Noah in the beginning of his professional career and we look forward to seeing that continue to grow.

“Noah has developed significantly over the course of his first two seasons here and we are eager to continue watching him grow on and off the pitch.”

Botic’s recent form has also earnt him selection in the Olyroos squad for a camp in Milan later this month.
