Dwight Yorke’s coaching services have been offered to Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen.

The former Manchester United star remains in Sydney after parting ways with A-League outfit Macarthur FC in controversial circumstances last month.

Yorke has also been linked to the Sydney FC coaching gig, but current Sky Blues boss Steve Corica has kept his job – at least for now – after his side’s 2-1 win over cellar dwellers Melbourne Victory last week.

In the meantime, Yorke is exploring all options, with his representatives having put his name forward for the Aberdeen job – according to Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper – following the sacking of Jim Goodwin, who was axed after the Dons’ 6-0 weekend loss to Hibernian.

Socceroos coach Graham Arnold had also been linked to the Aberdeen position before his new Football Australia contract was announced on Monday.

Yorke’s chances of snaring the Aberdeen job could reportedly by aided by his close relationship with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson is an Aberdeen legend, having guided the club to three Scottish Premiership titles, four Scottish Cups, a Scottish League Cup, a European Cup Winner’s Cup, and a European Super Cup.

Ferguson reportedly also has a “close personal friendship” with Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack.

Following Goodwin’s sacking, Cormack named Barry Robson as Aberdeen’s interim manager.
