Player to watch: A star in the first half of 2019, midfielder Cian Cuba’s campaign was cut short by a leg injury but now has a chance to rise this season.

Last word: “I believe we’ve strengthened and gained great some experience,” Rees said.

PENINSULA POWER

Last season: 3rd ( 23 wins, 0 draws, 5 losses)

Coach: Aaron Philp

Ins: Cameron Crestani, Hayden Mchenery, Marek Madle, Josh Matcham, Byron McLeod

Outs: Alexander Warrilow, Matt Heath, Alex Sargent, Ramone Close, Dean Briggs

Player to watch: An attacking, left-footed midfielder with great skill, Tom Strickland’s link-up play with the Power frontline will again be a feature of their play.

Last word: Perennial finalists, the Power are confident they have again built a squad able to challenge for silverware.

GOLD COAST KNIGHTS

Last season: 1st (22 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses)

Coach: Grae Piddick

Ins: Emlyn Wellsmore, Rhys Lambert, Guilherme Desouza, Matthew Henvey, Paul O’Brien, Jheison Macuace

Player to watch: A member of the Roar that won last year’s National Youth League, 19-year-old defender Emlyn Wellsmore is tipped for big things.

Last word: “We obviously had a good year so from my point of view and the group it’s about improving,” Piddick said.

BRISBANE STRIKERS

Last season: 5th (14 wins, 4 draws, 10 losses)

Player to watch: Son Hyeonjoon, an ex professional K- League player.

Last word: “The season will be as tough and demanding on our small squad as last year however we are a team that are well organised,” Wright said.

REDLANDS UNITED

Last season: 10th (11 wins, 2 draws, 15 losses)

Coach: Graham Ross

Ins: Max Davison, Gabby Hawash, Kelton Scriggins, Luke Hendix, Rory Smith, Kimba Kibombo.

Last word: Ross is happy with how the squad has come together in pre-season and has now started to gel with the new additions to the squad, as always the rain has hampered their preparations.

BRISBANE CITY

Last season: 6th (with 6 points deducted at the start of the season)

Coach: Nick Green

Ins: Chris Parsons, Shannon Brady, Steven Snaith, Aaron Madriguel

Outs: Marquez Walters, Jackson Simpkin, Ollie Duncan, Jake Clancy, Hayden McHenery, Sebastian Kaye, Jaiden Nightingale, Rhys Raymond

Player to watch: Alex Fietchner

Last word: Started the pre season well and looking to start the season strongly against Redlands and Pen Power. Great new additions supported by quality youth and a fantastic first team coach.

CAPALABA

Last season: 2nd in the FQPL (gaining promotion in the last game v Logan. Lost FQPL championship semi-final)

Coach: David Booth

Ins: Alexander Warrilow (Peninsula Power), Sam Langley (Logan Lightning), Hyunggyu Yoo (Albany Creek BPL)

Last word: Capalaba will be looking to show their worth as they enter their first season in the NPL. It will be the first Redlands derby in years as they will face Redlands United in later rounds. Their off season was a bit of a struggle with a major loss to Brisbane City 6-1.

LIONS FC

Last season: 1st on ladder (24 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses)

Coach: Darren Sime

Ins: Jordan Farina, Zach Maltby, Yuta Kasahara

Outs: Keegan Jelacic, Warren Moon (coach), Rhys Webster, Adam Sawyer, Marek Madle, Jheison Macuace, Chris Hatfield

Player to watch: Tommy Jarrard, Mitch Hore, Danny Kim

Last word: After claiming back-to-back Premierships in the last two years, Lions FC have set the bar of expectations high.

BRISBANE ROAR YOUTH

Last season: 8th (11 wins, 3 draws, 14 losses)

Coach: Chris Grossman

Ins: Jackson Simpkin, Keegan Jelacic, Eli Adams, Marquez Walters, Cai Tipaldo, Danilo Kovacevic, Aiden Bender, Jackson Riley, Liam McArthur

Outs: Tyson Martin, Lachlan Hunter, Emlyn Wellsmore

Player to watch: Harry Talbot. Made his debut as 15-year-old in 2018, has a couple of seasons under his belt and has spent time training with the A-League team.

Last word: Finished second in the Y-League Conference A. A number of players have spent time training with top squad.
