Brisbane Roar have prepared for the expected departure of Riku Danzaki by signing Austrian midfielder Marcel Canadi.

On loan from Japanese club Consadole Sapporo. attacking midfielder Danzaki is set to join Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell during the current transfer window.

Canadi, 25, joins the Roar from Croatian club HNK Sibenik, and has also had stints with Austrian sides SV Ried, Amstetten and Austria Lustenau, as well the reserve team of German outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach.

He made the last of 11 appearances in all competitions for Sibenik on October 18 last year.

Canadi’s signing has been part of an active transfer week for the A-League club, with the Roar having sold 20-year-old striker Cyrus Dehmie to Danish second-tier outfit Næstved Boldklub for an undisclosed fee.

“It was a special time for me to make my professional debut for Brisbane and I want to thank the club for giving me the opportunity,” Dehmie said.

“I’ve been offered an exciting opportunity in Denmark, and I’m excited to try myself in a new environment in Europe.”
