Australian captain Sam Kerr named best player in the Women’s Super League
Sam Kerr has been picking up trophies and awards for fun in 2022 and the latest one is among the biggest of them all.

Australian superstar Sam Kerr has cemented her place among the world’s best footballers after taking out the Women‘s Super League Player of the Year award among a swag of gongs so far in 2022.
The Matildas captain last month was named the UK Football Writers’ top player and also earnt the Golden Boot award after booting 20 goals for Chelsea this season.
Two of those goals were scored on the final day of the season to lead Chelsea to a 4-2 victory over Manchester United that secured the league title.
The second of those strikes, when Kerr controlled the ball on her chest outside the box before turning and volleying home, was named WSL goal of the season.

To go with her individual awards, Chelsea also secured the Super League and Women’s FA Cup title as Kerr and her teammates took all before them.
Kerr received more than 70 per cent of the vote for the player of the year award having booted her 20 goals in 20 appearances as she won the Golden Boot award for the second-consecutive year.
