Brisbane Roar’s 2022-23 A-League squad has been strengthened by the addition of two players.

Construction begins on new $22 million Brisbane Roar Women’s headquarters

Brisbane Roar’s squad for the upcoming A-League season has been bolstered with the signing of former Perth Glory marksman Joe Knowles and the return of Australian under-23 representative Jordan Courtney-Perkins.

Knowles, 26, has completed his move to Brisbane after impressing while on trial with the club in July when he scored in the Roar’s Queensland Champions Cup clash against English Premier League outfit Leeds.

Knowles also played against Aston Villa in the same friendly tournament before returning to his NPL Victoria club Oakleigh Cannons.

He continued his good form, helping the Cannons to a grand final win and being named a joint winner of the NPL Victoria player-of-the-year award.

Having completed his commitments with Oakleigh, Knowles is now ready to make an A-League impact for the Roar.

“It’s great to be given the opportunity by Brisbane Roar to be able to go back into the A-League,” said Perth-born Knowles, who made 15 appearances for the Glory between 2015 and 2018.

“I just want to be able to show that I deserve to be at this level and this is my second chance now.”

Defender Courtney-Perkins is back at the Roar on loan from his Polish club Raków Czestochowa.

“When the opportunity arose to come back and help the team I was immediately interested,” said the centre-back, who made 15 appearances for the Roar before leaving for Poland in June last year.

“Coming home seems to be a great opportunity for me to get some consistent game time. I hope to help the team any way I can, on and off the pitch.”

Meanwhile, the Australia Cup final venue has been confirmed, with CommBank Stadium to host the October 1 decider between Macarthur FC and Sydney United 58.
