TIM Cahill did not discount playing in the A-League but wouldn’t reveal which clubs had flagged interest after Adelaide United officials on Friday declared there was “no progress.’’ Adelaide’s general manager of football Ante Kovacevic contacted the Socceroos striker’s management team on Thursday in a bid to see if luring Cahill to United was viable.

Adelaide coach Marco Kurz told Kovacevic to make the inquiry with the German visualising Cahill as a striker for his United outfit as the club investigates whether the record breaking Socceroo would fit on all fronts.
Cahill also did not discount the possibility of a move abroad.
He also claimed the FIFA World Cup in Russia is his ultimate goal revealing that the Socceroos sports science team had put together a plan to keep him fit for the June tournament.
The 38-year-old spoke for the first time since issuing a joint statement on Wednesday with his former club Melbourne City to reveal he was exiting the club immediately by mutual agreement.
“There’s lots of interest,’’ Cahill told Fox Sports.
“And that’s the best thing for a footballer.
“It is what it is, I will find a club and basically it has to be right to get to where I’ve got to get to.
“I’ll give it the best chance possible.
“It will be an easy decision in the end because my family will help me make it.”
Cahill continually referred to “time ticking” claiming once his family arrives in Australia from New York next week he would make a decision about his future.
He said the A-League was also the most challenging in his entire career after Cahill scored goals in the English premier league, the US’s Major Soccer League and the Chinese Super League.
“There was a lot of pressure commercially but I also had to produce on the pitch,’’ he said.
