The Gold Coast will play a major role at the Netball Queensland State Titles this weekend in Brisbane, as both the reigning premiers and dark horse of the competition.

Bond University won the 2021 U16 division and came runners-up in the U18, while this will be the Titans maiden appearance after entering the Sapphire Series this year.

But both teams have a secret weapon up their sleeves for 2022: they each have a set of Tongan twins tearing up the local comps, and it could result in a deadly clash if they face each other in finals.

Bond University will have Joesi and Jorja Gisinger, 16, while the Titans will have Roxanne and Madison Rhind, 15.

The four budding stars are best of friends off court, but won’t show the same affection on court as they vie for Queensland selection to compete at Nationals the following year.

Fans can watch every moment of the State Titles here via KommunityTV.

“It’s exciting, I enjoy playing these two (Roxanne and Madison) because they’re both really skilled and it’s always a good a match up,” Bond co-captain Jorja said.

The two teams faced off in a trial game just weeks ago where Bond took the win 59-44.

“For the first three quarters it was goal for goal, it wasn’t until the last quarter that our girls took it away,” Bond netballer co-ordinator Kim Boland said.

“Anything can happen at State Titles, there’s only four ten minute quarters so anything can happen.”

The pairs are in separate pools over the tournament but could match up if they both finish first or second in the pools.
