THE Southport School remain hopeful of doing battle with Churchie in Brisbane tomorrow as rain threatens to derail their quest for a fourth-straight GPS first XI crown.
While all of TSS’ home fixtures at Village Green have been washed out, the fate of the first XI game at East Brisbane hangs in the balance.
With more rain a possibility, a reduced-overs clash could be on the cards and the three-time champions are desperate to take the field for the first time this season.
NEW ERA BUT SAME DESIRE FOR DOMINANT TSS FIRST XI
After a bye in Round 1, TSS’ encounter with Nudgee College last week was abandoned without a ball being bowled and another washout could spell trouble for their premiership hopes.
“(The rain) has put us a bit behind the eight-ball but there’s a lot of cricket still to be played. We’ll do whatever we can to get a game in (tomorrow), even if it’s a Twenty20,” TSS director of cricket Steven Baker said.

Toowoomba Grammar School (14 points) and Brisbane Boys’ College (13 points) are the early competition pacesetters after winning their first two games, with TSS sitting fifth on six points.
The Gold Coast side has won seven of the last 10 first XI premierships but the playing group has undergone a transformation this season, led by new captain Jack Hocart.
