“You don’t have to be dead to be stiff.”
It was the comment ringing in the ears of the Bulletin’s sport staff after naming teams of the season in every senior grade of Gold Coast Cricket earlier this week.
It was, of course, 100 per cent accurate.
How could a team of the season not have players the quality of Dayne Siede from Mudgeeraba and Sam Yabsley of Burleigh?
For that matters, how could Southport’s Dean Johnson and his 500 run season go unrecognised in Fifth Grade?
And could Asitha Koralage and James Guy’s incredible form in Third Grade South - though in only seven games each - simply be ignored?
There was just too much quality around Gold Coast cricket this season to select just one team of the season.
So we made another.
Call it what you will - the Justice XI, the honourable mentions... Just know that given the chance every name selected below would take the fight straight to their more highly regarded cousins named in the first Team of the Season post.
