Cricket 2022: England smash ODI world record with 4-498 against Netherlands

Jos Buttler led an astonishing barrage by England’s batters as they hit a world record one-day international score in Aussie coach Matthew Mott’s first game in charge.

It’s only The Netherlands, but Aussie Matthew Mott could be forgiven for thinking this coaching gig is easy, his English white-ball team rattling up a world record in his debut.

After leading the all-conquering Australian women’s team to a bulging trophy cabinet, the Australian, in his first game in charge watched the Poms scorching The Netherlands to the tune of 4-498.

The remarkable scorecard featured three centuries, led by an unbeaten 162 of just 70 balls from Jos Buttler.

In trouble at 1-1, Opener Phil Salt (122 off 93) and Dawid Malan (125 off 109) put on 222 for the second wicket

Buttler whacked 14 sixes in his monstrous knock and Liam Livingstone put the exclamation point on the innings, belting the fastest 50 in England’s ODI history off just 17 balls — and joint second-fastest of all-time, before finishing with 66 off 22 balls.

Captain Eoin Morgan missed out, dismissed for a golden duck.

Phiippe Boissevain, who doesn’t even have a scorecard photo on cricket.com.au was clubbed for 108 off his 10 overs, while Pieter Seelaar - who does have a photo - was the ‘destroyer’ with 2-83 off nine overs.
