KFC SuperCoach BBL: Biggest price risers to target for rounds 7 and 8

Cash cows are still important at the midway point of a KFC SuperCoach season and there are a host of quality options in BBL11. Check out our best options.

The KFC SuperCoach run home is almost upon us and having the right cash cows can make a huge difference.

Get the right money makers in your team now and you can prime your team for a big finish to BBL11.

Players with low break evens are KFC SuperCoach gold and as the season is already midway through, those who can make money quickly are crucial.

In many cases, you only need cash cows for 2-3 rounds until their price generation maxes out.

That’s when you can cash them in and add another bona fide star.

Matt Renshaw has reached 20 runs in three consecutive games.

Matthew Renshaw (Strikers)

A big innings seemed a matter of time and Renshaw delivered exactly that in Round 6 with 63 from 41 balls against the Hurricanes in Round 6. He lifted his strike rate from 104 and 95 in his first two innings of BBL11 to 153 in that game and was projected to rise to about $89k for Round 7. The Strikers have a double in Round 9 so it makes sense to grab Renshaw now before his price rises above $100k. It could be more than $120k by the time the Strikers play twice in a few rounds. The most encouraging aspect of Renshaw’s first three innings of BBL11 were he reached 20 in each, the mark needed to be eligible for the strike rate bonus.

Brody Couch has been a revelation for the Stars.

The young Victorian quick has been one of the revelations of BBL10 and after Round 5 had as many wickets as the BBL’s premier spinner Rashid Khan. Stars captain Glenn Maxwell has trusted Couch to bowl in the power play and crucially for his KFC SuperCoach scoring, in the 20th over of innings. He’s going to be above $100k in Round 7 which seems a lot to play for a bowler who started the season at $42k. But Couch has shown he can score well and perhaps most encouragingly for an inexperienced player, he has a season-low score of 25. Haris Rauf is about to be unleashed which could impact his role, but Couch has done enough to retain his spot for at least a few games after the Pakistani dynamo returns.

Englishman Joe Clarke’s price is rising fast.

The Englishman’s price was heading in the wrong direction in the opening three rounds but he has found his groove in the past two matches for the Stars. Clarke has scored 52 (40) and 85 (44) in his last two matches after dropping to $82k. The only concern is he could miss Round 7 after hurting his hamstring during his epic half-century against the Heat. Clarke said post-match he was hopeful of playing in the Stars’ next game but failed to take the field as Peter Nevill filled in as wicketkeeper. If he misses Round 7, he’ll be a popular Round 8 buy with a low break even for the double in Round 8.

Daniel Hughes produced a much-needed score in Round 5.

Hughes was one of the most frustrating KFC SuperCoach players of the opening four rounds before bouncing back in a big way with his first half-century of BBL11 in Round 5. Promoted to No. 3, the Sixers batsman responded with 50 from 26 balls in the Sydney Smash. That innings alone caused Hughes’ price to jump from $42k to $62k and left him with a break even of -39. He had three single-digit SuperCoach scores then but if you’re in need of a quick guaranteed cash grab, this could be it.

Jon Wells has been in strong form for the Strikers.

Wells has three scores of 32 or better in his last five BBL knocks and is finding form at the right time ahead of the Strikers’ Round 9 KFC SuperCoach double. A middle-order batting role is never ideal for KFC SuperCoach, but Wells has shown in past seasons he can be one of the BBL’s most consistent batsmen. Successive round scores of 68, 67 and 85 caused his price to jump to $117k, but with a low break even for Round 6 he could be more than $150k soon. If you want him for Round 9, this could be the time to jump on otherwise you risk paying top dollar, a situation every KFC SuperCoach wants to avoid.

Jason Sangha is one of the form batters in the BBL.

Jason Sangha (Thunder)

Sangha has grasped his chance after being on the outer for much of the past three seasons, producing KFC SuperCoach scores of 59, 67 and 81 since returning to the Thunder side. His first two scores caused his price to jump by almost $30k and it was only set to rise more due to a break even of -34 in Round 6. His spot is under pressure from fit-again Ollie Davies, but as long as he keeps batting this well Sangha will continue to be a mid-season cash cow.

Ben Duckett posted consecutive KFC SuperCoach tons.

Those coaches who jumped on Brisbane Heat’s English No. 3 a few rounds ago at $101k will be thrilled by his resurgence. After scores of 11 and 12 in rounds 2 and 3, Duckett has posted 133 and 104 in consecutive games. That 104 was the first game of the Round 6 double too, so his score will only get higher. Duckett’s break even for Round 6 was -18, so he will experience a significant rise for Round 7. It’s also likely his break even will stay low, so there’s still cash to be made if he continues his irrepressible form from the past two games.

Hayden Kerr is enjoying a breakout BBL campaign.

Hayden Kerr (Sixers)

There’s a big watch on Kerr’s role with mid-season recruit Shadab Khan in the team, although it seems more likely the Pakistan all-rounder would impact Lloyd Pope’s role than Kerr. Maybe his overs will disappear once Stephen O’Keefe returns from injury, although Kerr is bowling so well Moises Henriques will be loathe not to use him. His price appeared to have peaked when it got to $102k after Round 3 then dropped to $94k. But a score of 75 in the Sydney Smash caused it to rebound to $107k and with a break even of -11 he’s soon heading above $120k.
