How to play the BBL|15 schedule to SuperCoach success

A unique fixture is the key to success in SuperCoach BBL with some teams playing twice and byes ready to trip up the unprepared. See all the key info and strategy here.

Double the games, double the points.

One simple trick can give you a huge boost over the competition in SuperCoach BBL – and there is a lot more to the schedule than that.

In every round at least one team will play twice, offering twice the opportunity to score SuperCoach points. These are the teams to target with your trades, captaincy and vice-captaincy selections.

We also need to be wary of byes littered through the season like landmines ready to snare unwary fantasy coaches.

Here’s a quick guide to using the schedule to get ahead in the most exciting season of SuperCoach BBL ever.

START HERE

The best way to get away to a flying start in BBL15 is to load up your team with Hobart Hurricanes. They play twice in round 1 and again in round 3.

Pick an all-rounder like Mitch Owen and you get four bites of the cherry with access to batting and bowling points in two matches. Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Ben McDermott and Matthew Wade are other Hurricanes to consider.

Sydney Sixers also feature twice in round 1, making SuperCoach guns like Josh Philippe, Ben Dwarshuis and Jack Edwards great options for your starting side.

TRADING YOUR WAY TO THE TOP

Coaches have three trades each round – four if you activate a Trade Boost – to improve your team and replace players who are unavailable, injured or underperforming.

Smart coaches trade around the schedule, bringing in players with a double game round coming up to replace players on a single or a bye.

For example, the Sixers play once each from rounds 2-4 then have a bye – so they can be traded out to bring in more double game players – in round 2 that’s the Heat and Thunder (you can get a head start by starting one or two players from those teams in your initial squad).

In round 3 the Hurricanes are on the double again along with Melbourne Stars – but this is where things get tricky.

BYE BEWARE

The Stars have a crazy three-round stretch from round 3-5 that includes a double game round followed by a bye and then another double.

Use any available trades to move Stars like Glenn Maxwell in, out and back in again, but with trades potentially required for other issues, playing it safe with a select number of Stars in round 4 might be the way to go, along with trying to hold one or two on the bench through their round 5 bye.

This could be a great time to use one of those precious Trade Boosts.

The Sixers present a similar challenge late in the season with byes in rounds 5 and 8 and doubles in rounds 6 and 9 – SuperCoach grand final weekend.

Coaches who can be nimble and think on their feet during short trade windows – for most rounds there is less than 24 hours between each round ending and the start of the next round – will get ahead. Possibly all the way to the $25,000 grand prize.
