Heat fire up and why Jhye for Stars vs Scorchers BBL SuperCoach tonight?

The Heat move to 2-0 and can the Stars bounce back against the Scorchers at the MCG?

Jhye's the guy + the Maxwell replacement! Cricket Today SuperCoach Picks - December 13

BBL13 is off to a cracking start with close matches galore and some massive SuperCoach scores already. Read on and listen/watch the Cricket Today Podcast as the team talk out what happened overnight in the BBL, as well as the best SuperCoach picks in an exciting Stars vs Scorchers preview.

BRISBANE HEATING UP

The Heat have continued on from their runners-up form from last season, starting the BBL13 2-0 with strong bowling performance, having not conceded over 131 runs so far.
Brisbane last night defeated the Thunder convincingly by 20 runs, even after only making 151 themselves. Sydney’s Tanveer Sangha wasn’t to blame though, picking up 3/21 and is proving to be the next big thing for spin in Australian cricket.

Heat skipper Colin Munro was great with the bat once more, now leading the league in runs after 46 off 33 balls last night and Brisbane’s rising star Xavier Bartlett was amazing with the ball, picking up 3/35.

The Thunder’s T20 batting depth is questionable, with six players going under 100 strike rate, while Brisbane are putting their hand up as title contenders and have easily been the most impressive team so far in BBL13.

MELBOURNE STARS vs PERTH SCORCHERS

MCG, Wednesday 7:15pm AEDT

Unfortunately for the Melbourne faithful, the Stars have continued on from a horror BBL12 season into this season, being demolished in their opening match by 103 runs against the Heat.

The Scorchers will be itching to get out on the pitch following a cancelled game against the Renegades over the weekend and want to prove why they’re the well-deserved favourites in going for a title three-peat this year.

The news over the weekend doesn’t help the Stars, with gun skipper Glenn Maxwell out injured. The likes of Beau Webster will have to step up in his absence (and can as a strong all-rounder) but Maxi’s absence leaves a big hole to fill.

Perth have a wide array of all-rounders and young talent that can shine at the mighty MCG tonight and will be extremely hard to stop.

SUPERCOACH LOCK

Jhye Richardson - $247,000

Richardson is finally back fit and healthy, a scary proposition for the other seven teams in the Big Bash and especially for the out of form Stars.

The Perth quick might be one of the most expensive players in SuperCoach, but he is well worth it, averaging the most points of any bowler in the league last season of 79.7.

Richo has extreme pace as well as a great slower ball, building a huge 112 SuperCoach point total the last time these sides faced with 4/25.

WHO WINS?

Melbourne are in abysmal form, coming off the wooden spoon last season and have lost seven of their last nine games.

The Scorchers have an incredible record in Victoria also, winning their last 12 away matches there and with so many all-rounders, they can confuse the opposition with so many bowling and batting change ups.

TIP: Perth Scorchers
