Sixers bypass Hurricanes, T.Curran dominated SuperCoach & Thunder vs Heat BBL Preview!

BBL13 is off to a cracking start with close matches galore and some massive SuperCoach scores already. Read on and listen/watch the Cricket Today Podcast as the team talks about what happened overnight in the BBL, as well as an exciting Thunder vs Heat preview.

SIXERS TOO STRONG

The mighty magenta remain unbeaten in BBL13 so far, sitting 2-0 after a strong win against the Hurricanes overnight.

Although Caleb Jewell got Hobart off to the perfect start with 42 off 24 balls, their next top scorer managed just 17 and displayed the same scoring problems that the Tassie team had last season.

After almost being barbecued by the flames around the ground, Tom Curran led the way with the ball for Sydney, picking up 3/19 and also hitting the winning runs. Currant is definitely putting his hand up as the best all-rounder in the league currently.

Sixers Dan Hughes showed all of his experience on an extremely tough pitch to bat on, making 60 not out, proving the BBL veteran has the ability to go large and adds immensely to a deep Sydney list.

Hobart did makes this close, thanks to a solid bowling performance by Canes skipper Nathan Ellis, but the Sixers are a team that never seem to worry on the big stage and got the job done early in the final over.

SYDNEY THUNDER vs BRISBANE HEAT

Manuka Oval, Tuesday 7:15pm AEDT

Thunder and Heat should be a cracking game, with both teams itching to get out on the park, with this being the Thunder’s first game of the season and the Heat’s last match a washout.

Brisbane was extremely impressive in its opener, demolishing the Stars en route to a club record win of 103 runs, while the Thunder have plenty of big hitters and strong bowling options to make this game a close one.

Tanveer Sangha coming back from injury is a huge in for Sydney: took 21 wickets in his last full BBL season and a three wicket haul last time he faced the Heat; Sangha will be up and about.

BBL SUPERCOACH LOCK

Daniel Sams - $162,500

Thunder’s leading all-rounder Daniel Sams might not be the cheapest option, but he’s strong in all facets of the game and was the league’s 14th-highest SuperCoach scorer last season.

Averaging 21 with the ball and going at a huge 144 strike rate with the bat, along with being an extremely strong fielder, Sams can build points in each part of the game and has the change-up deliveries to get among the wickets tonight against Brisbane.

WHO WINS?

The Heat were the top scoring team in the competition last season and have continued that to start this campaign as the only team so far to score over 200.

Their experience across the board, led by Colin Munro with the bat can take over here, as they did in the last meeting winning away to the Thunder comfortably.

TIP: Brisbane Heat
