Round 11 is the perfect time to set your SuperCoach BBL team for the run home.

With no bye or double to plan for, coaches can use their allotted trades to prepare their side for rounds 12 and 13 — when two teams feature twice.

Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes play twice in Round 12, while Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat finish the campaign with two matches in Round 13.

You can forward plan without throwing in the towel for Round 11, with several top scorers available with doubles still to come.

Brisbane Heat captain Chris Lynn posted his highest score of the season in Round 2 when he clubbed 94 from 35 balls, recording 189 SuperCoach BBL points.

The Heat skipper rose to $211,700 after Round 6 but is a much more affordable $123,000 heading into Round 11.

Brisbane will be a popular team this round with James Pattinson, Ben Cutting and AB De Villiers in the sights of many coaches.

De Villiers will cost more than $200,000 after scoring 73 on his BBL debut, while Pattinson’s value is rising after his score of 144 when he took five wickets against Adelaide.

Cutting is another player with a high price tag but had only twice scored less than 40 to Round 10.
Stand-in Melbourne Renegades captain Dan Christian is another player worth consideration thanks to his increased role with Kane Richardson and Aaron Finch with the ODI team in India.

Since taking over as skipper, Christian has been elevated into the top-five twice and bowled 7.4 overs in three matches (including one reduced by rain).

After starting BBL09 as one of the most-expensive SuperCoach players, the veteran all-rounder is available for a mouth-watering $104,600 after the Renegades bye.

Matthew Wade and Qais Ahmad are the most attractive options from the Hurricanes, with D’Arcy Short not due to return until Round 12 from Australia’s ODI tour.

Travis Head has been batting No.3 and bowling since returning to Adelaide, while Peter Siddle has one of the best economy rates of any paceman.

Michael Neser is another Striker to consider due to his role — batting at No.7 and bowling both in the power play and later overs.

Dan Christian has been playing a more prominent role since Aaron Finch and Kane Richardson headed to India.

TOP TARGETS

Dan Christian (Melbourne Renegades) BAT-BWL $104,600 Avg: 35.6 Highest non-double score: 132

Have the Renegades and Christian finally turned a corner? It’ll be too late for a finals tilt, but Christian’s role in the reigning champion’s breakthrough victory was encouraging for SuperCoach. The stand-in skipper jumped $15,600 after taking 3-14 from two overs and launching 21 from 12 balls batting at No.5. Now is the time to pounce as Christian will be dearer come Round 13 when the Renegades play twice.

Chris Lynn (Brisbane Heat) $123,100 BAT Avg: 52 Highest non-double score: 189

Of course, any batsman is a risk in a round where they only play once. Lynn scored 10, 22 and 0 betweens rounds 7 and 9 and dropped from $211,700 to $141,000. At that price — or likely even lower — he’s going to be very affordable in Round 11. Lynn took Tom Banton’s opening role against Adelaide in Round 9 and getting him now will save a trade come the Round 13 double.

AB De Villiers (Brisbane Heat) $210,300 BAT Avg: 73 Highest non-double score: 73

If you’re sitting on a premium whose price is falling, it’s time to cash in and grab De Villiers. He needs to score 70-80 each round to maintain his price, but the likelihood is you won’t get him cheaper than $200,000 in Round 13 for the Heat double. It makes sense to find the extra $20,000 now for De Villiers, who could be the perfect Round 11 vice-captain against the Renegades.

Matthew Wade is a priority target as coaches prepare for Hobart Hurricanes’ Round 12 double.

Matthew Wade (Hobart Hurricanes) $137,900 WKP-BAT Avg: 38.7 Highest non-double score: 83

Wade and Qais Ahmad are the key Hurricanes targets for Round 12. Leg-spinner Ahmad has featured in several trade guides and has been a consistent scorer without coming close to his Round 1 score of 180. Wade slotted straight back in as opener after returning from Test duties and is more affordable than his starting price of $187,200 after holing out in the deep for a score of three in Round 9 against Perth Scorchers.

Travis Head (Adelaide Strikers) $183,200 BAT-BWL Avg: 54 Highest non-double score: 94

Head becomes a more attractive trade if leg-spinner Liam O’Connor isn’t in the Strikers team. The Test No. 6 took 2-26 and made 22 on his BBL return against Melbourne Renegades, but wasn’t needed with the ball in the next match against Brisbane Heat when O’Connor was selected. Last round he bowled one over — taking 1-4. A player featuring at No.3 and bowling would be a SuperCoach must-have.

Peter Siddle (Adelaide Strikers) $173,900 BWL Avg: 56.8 Highest non-double score: 128

Siddle has been one of the most economical bowlers of BBL09 and is the key paceman in the Strikers attack after Billy Stanlake was dropped. Siddle has two three-wicket hauls this tournament and has only conceded more than 30 runs in one match.

Ben Cutting (Brisbane Heat) $176,600 BAT-BWL Avg: 57.7 Highest non-double score: 138

SuperCoaches are often too quick to pigeonhole the Brisbane Heat all-rounder as a player whose scores fluctuates between elite and underwhelming. Cutting only has two three scores below 42 this season and has a prominent role batting in the top six and bowling regularly overs after the Heat’s reshuffle to accommodate AB De Villiers at No.4. A must-have for Round 13 at the very least.

James Pattinson (Brisbane Heat) $139,900 BWL Avg: 83 Highest non-double score: 144

Too cheap to ignore and with a price still rising after his five-wicket haul and 144-point score against Adelaide. One of the most important rules of SuperCoach is not to chase points you missed out on, but Pattinson represents a smart trade as he still has a double to come. Missed Heat’s loss to the Strikers with illness.
